NextGen Workshop Appearance - The Art of Listening

Our Managing Director and Chartered Financial Planner, Keith Boyes, made a guest appearance in a NextGen webinar this week (a community group for the UK’s most forward-thinking advice firms). Keith appeared alongside George Kinder (the master of life planning) and Julia Fisher (paraplanner) to discuss the art of listening. Keith shared his top tips on listening well to his fellow professionals over the hour long appearance to c 60 guests. Here’s what he had to say about it all:

“Listening is a fundamental skill that so many of us get wrong, both in work and our personal lives. Giving our clients the time and space to tell their story is key to the delivery of great financial advice. It’s not about talking for an hour about investment performance. Sure it’s good to know, but good planning moves way beyond that. It’s about giving clients their platform to be heard and importantly understood. They are the hero of the story and by practicing good active listening we can gain that invaluable insight into what matters most, with a guiding hand to support clients in living life on their terms.

Never underestimate the power of being truly present for someone and the value that brings.
